I came the the best Fried ice cream that I know of. Then decided to eat aswell. My waiter, Cruz was so helpful, by offering me to happy hour menu. And the tacos are so, good. I really like the vibes, thanks to Cruz and the delicious food.

Food wasn't that great. Ordered birria taco plates and they came out with NO MEAT, only onions. Onion taco plates! NO cheese either like they are supposed to have. Both plates were like this! I seen the manager and showed him the plates. I said look at what we received for our dinner. He had new plates made for us. The 2nd plates didnt have enough meat nor did they come with any cheese either but better than the first plates. The waiter didnt even stop these from coming out. He gave them to us like they were something to be proud of. Waiter should have stopped that immediately! Ridiculous! The manager apologized to us and said that should of not of happened and that he spoke to the cook. He did not charge me for the plates at all though but I only think he did that because he saw my wife taking pictures of the plates than came to me and said its on us. We will not go here again at all. We were looking forward to a good meal from El Torito but we did not get that.

Our family of three arrived just before 6pm on Sunday for a birthday rewards dinner. The restaurant was NOT busy and they sat us in what appeared to be the only dining section in use as there were several other families dining there as well. Water, chips and salsa came out quickly. We placed our order with our waitress rather quickly and that's when things went south. This was the last time we saw our waitress for the rest of the night. I don't know if she left to join the circus or what, but we never saw her again.
Our food came out, the wait for the food was noticeable, maybe because there were other parties in the room that ordered before us, but we watched and tracked when tables got served. That's how long of a wait it was. Not horrible, but enough to notice and start tracking it.
That was the last time we got service. My water glass was empty for almost the entire meal. Waiters and servers would pass by, go to other tables, take our empty chips basket away, but never refill the water or ask if I wanted more. We had to flag someone down to refill the drink, twice. We were the only table without a waiter.
When we were done, we had to flag a random waiter down to get our bill. They delivered the wrong one. Ok, that's an accident stuff happens. They fixed it, the bill was right, our birthday meal discount was applied. That was good, because that was the only time the birthday was actually recognized. No happy birthday from the original waitress, no special dessert, no nothing. We've been going to El Toritos for over 30 years. Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Woodland Hills, Oxnard, and Northridge. This is the first time we've ever been ignored on a birthday. At Woodland Hills they ask everyone if they want to be sung to and they bring out a scoop of ice cream. We're going back there next time. Northridge is a prettier location, but the service left a LOT to be desired. Needless to say, no tip was left.
